Last week, I received a booking from my website to fix a flat tire on an e-bike in Cortland, NY. Cortland is about an hour from where I live, but I spend a lot of time down there recreating. I ski and ski instruct at Greek Peak, so it was not very difficult for me to make this mobile ebike repair happen.
The bike was an APYEAR 14″ foldable electric bike. My customer purchased the bike from Walmart, and it has been treating him very well so far! Except for a few flat tires, which can be expected when commuting around urban areas, the bike has held up to the 2-mile commute during this extremely cold and snowy winter.
The repair went smoothly, although it required a 90-degree bent valve tube. This allows the valve to have clearance from the hub so you can put air in the tire. Without that, it is nearly impossible to get any air into the tube. The tubes were about $12 each, and I charged $35 for the repair and my mobile services.
I hope to do more repairs in the Cortland area and am considering it as a potential for opening my bicycle repair business. Going to look at retail spaces next week, and I am excited and hopeful that I will find a good place to set up my new business. Thanks for reading!
